The John Buckman
Foundation Ball

In Aid of Make a Wish Foundation

Introduction from Rebecca Buckman the
Chair of The John Buckman Foundation

The John Buckman Foundation has been setup in the memory of my Father John Buckman, who devastatingly lost his 19 months battle to Glioblastoma on 25th May 2018. For our foundation we are looking to raise money and work alongside Make A Wish Foundation and other local charities.

When my father was sitting in the hospital waiting room, he was heartbroken by the amount of children and teenagers who were sitting alongside him, also waiting for their treatment. He was shocked and saddened by the amount of young children who have been and are being attacked by these horrific diseases.

My brother and I are very confident to say, if our father was still here and well enough to he would be fighting to save these children and support them as much as he could, making their wishes come true. He was an incredibly generous man, especially with his family and close friends, we know if he was still here, his generosity would be spread amongst these young children who are being affected by these terminal diseases. This is why we will be hosting a series of events to raise money for Make A Wish Foundation and other local chosen charities, our first event will be on 25th May 2019 ‘The John Buckman Foundation Ball’ you can find information about this event on our events page.

I really hope our father’s legacy can live on within The John Buckman Foundation.

Thank you for taking the time to read about The John Buckman Foundation,

Yours Sincerely,

Make a Wish Foundation

Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Whether it's starring in their own films, walking with dinosaurs, going on an amazing holiday, meeting a celebrity hero, or having a bedroom makeover; our wishes are varied, personal and life-changing. We go above and beyond to grant amazing wishes to very amazing children; their One True Wish made a reality at a time when they need it most. Because a child's life shouldn't be about illness, hospitals and diagnosis - it should be about wonder, joy and hope.

We've seen the effects a wish can have on a seriously ill child: from creating incredible memories, building confidence and bringing happiness, to providing respite from the daily struggles that come with a critical illness. We know what wishes can give, and this is the driving force behind why we continue to do what we do.
